Wood-fire cooking is very common in Basotho households especially in the rural areas. Even in urban areas people still prefer wood fire cooked meals especially when entertaining large crowds as it saves energy and nothing beats the unique smoke flavour of the slowly and gently cooked food. Cast iron pots are used for this type of cooking.
